Tip: Hide Sensitive Information in Images

| | Comments (4)

We get some requests for a "blur-like" capability to cover up things like email addresses or credit card numbers in screen captures. One way to cover up things in your image is to use the text tool and draw a box over it. (On Mac you need to enter a space so the text box is "valid" and stays there.) You can make the border white so it looks a little better.

Anton made a little video showing this for our @JingTips Twitter account. We share an occasional Jing tip, a little behind the scenes news, and can field questions too.

Pretty good options there. Thanks!

Also, I love that i can open a Jing capture in Camstasia from the Jing interface and do blur and many more image manipulations with it to hide data in an image I want to share.

It's a nice combination!

I presented this idea once and won some teeshirts. :) Thanks guys! The message-box block is the better of the two, but still is a bit obtuse... would like to see a block-out tool... think "highlight tool" plus make colors opaque. Seems like it would be a good low hanging fruit for a future version!
