Screencast.com Trial Does Not Apply to Jing Users
Posted on Thursday June 19, 2008 by Mike Curtis
Hi everyone,
We’re aware of the confusion about the 60-day trial thing with Screencast.com and how it relates to Jing. The Screencast.com trial period does not apply to Jing users. The worst part is a lot of people probably tell their friends that this is some kind of trial and others probably take one look at Jing and don’t give it a try.
We are working on a solution that will be less confusing in the future.
I hope this eases some fears or confusion. Don’t worry, we've got your back.

What also is confusing (and annoying!) is that when you choose to buy additional screencast.com storagespace and bandwith (let's say for one month at $6,95), after that month you are *obligated* to renew this subscription. Otherwise all other Jing-content becomes unavailable to your viewers.
The account is not reverted to the previous Jing-settings (1GB Bandwith, 1GB storage). Instead, the account expires/becomes unavailable.
Please fix this also.
Thanks,
Peter.

Peter,
Actually what happens is that if you choose not to renew your subscription it will turn back to a "free" account. All you have to do is make sure that you storage of files is under the requirement for the "free" jing account.

Help! I have just begun to use Jing. It appears to be very good for instructions. However, out of five people to whom I sent my project, only one was able to open it. How can I enable others to get into it easier??

Hi Charles!
This is a tough one. Maybe others have had trouble viewing Jings and can jump in too. A few basic questions:
You're sending videos right? First thought is all viewers need to have Flash installed on their computers. If they don't, or have an old version, Jing is supposed to tell them and give them a link to get it.
Another idea is if the video is really big, and the viewers are on a really slow connection maybe they are giving up before it loads?
Could it be the viewers that are unsuccessful are all in the same work environment and maybe the URL is blocked by IT?
Here's an idea. Do your viewers have Jing or another screen capture software installed? If so, I'd like if they could capture what they see when they try to open your Jing videos.
Thanks so much, and feel free to contact support.techsmith.com because they are the best at this sort of mystery.
