#JingNowHasTwitter

| | Comments (4)

Hey, Jingers! I'm Jim, a Mac Developer here at TechSmith. I'm the guy who wrote most of the Twitter functionality for the Mac version of Jing. This is a feature we've talked about for a while, and I'm stoked to see it shipping for both Mac and Windows (and for both Free and Pro versions of Jing).

Working with the Jing team to design and implement this feature was a blast. We evaluated a ton of other Twitter clients along the way, drawing as much inspiration as possible. We tried to take the best parts of what we've seen, add in a little TechSmith magic, and still make it feel natural. We hope you like it.

The coolest part, in my opinion, is the in-line progress bar that shows up while your media gets sent off to Screencast.com. It was a bit harder to write than I expected, but I'm completely geeked about it now. We weren't 100% sold on the design at first, but it turned out to be a great way to let you write your tweet and upload at the same time where many clients only let you do one. I'll show you what I mean in this short video clip.

We're always looking for feedback on everything we do. Did we hit the nail on the head? Did we miss something crucial? Let us know. Every blog comment and piece of feedback gets read.

Did you just add this to the Mac side, or do we PC users get it too? I don't have it yet and I want it - badly!

Can't wait to try it out!

I love the new twitter function!

I had a thought... it's cool that jing gets advertised (when people click on my tweet link that leads to the pic on screencast) because you are offering a great product....

But to make this even better...

Why do we like the screen shot twitter capability? Because it makes it super quick and easy to post something to the people we want to share it with.

I twitter to get people to come to my blog. What if the screenshot tweets had the ability to embed a link to wherever we wanted the tweet reader to go after viewing the picture on screen cast?

Jing would still be advertised still and we (paying customers) would have a sweet new feature that would help us drive traffic...

I could see how this would be a paid feature only... I think that is fair.

Another alternative to embeding our link (instead of doing it in the image) might be coding it so it shows up on the screencast page.... and it's colored red so they'll see it and know that they can click it to ready more of the blog article.

Anyways, thought it was a great idea... you might have already thought of it. But this would make me a jinger for life no doubt!

Thanks!
