How Jing Works. As Explained by Captain Jing

| | Comments (12)

There's lots of ways to learn things. Some people like visual, some like hands-on. Some like to read. How would you explain how Jing works to someone? We talk about fast visual communication, but what does that really mean?

What would be a different way to try and explain Jing? Do you think this video get the idea across? Would you be willing to send it on and help explain to others how Jing works?

Jing pulling the picture and creating the URL was pure class. :)

Can Jing
a) Splice small pieces of video into 1 large one
b) Fade
c) Add comments after the video is made
d) Create Flsash Files

Why do I want to do this? Why not just paste the graphic into my email?

geeeze...someone needs to answer Hugh already....
non-Jinging-O-rama, slow response, budget enthusiasm issues here

I'll answer!

@ Hugh: The answer to a-c is nope, you'll need a video editor and be careful because the free version of Jing only makes SWF files which most editors won't take. However for part d, Jing will make flash files--the free version is Flash SWF and Jing Pro makes SWF or MPEG-4

@ RickBer: Jing can also let you copy and paste images, so you sure can achieve that workflow. The ability to upload and link to the image is especially helpful if you're using a medium that won't take an attachment. An example might be an Instant Message client, a chat room or Twitter. The link is also helpful in the case of sending a video to somebody those large attachments can be problems in emails.

Hope that helps, and I hope all people feel free to jump in and comment!

Say....when will Jing capture a "scrolling" window? Snagit does everything, but because I use a Mac, we get "leftovers"! What gives? Why not Snagit for Mac? Jing comes in a distant second compared to Snagit!!!

Hello Deb,
I think I may have some good news for you.
We're making Snagit for the Mac, and things are well underway. I don't want to imply it'll be just like the Windows version, but I'd check out this post and then sign up for the announcements.

Well, I had a comment, but missed something in the captcha. "Try again" gave me a blank comment field. Sorry.

Wow, as if Captcha wasn't annoying enough...
I passed that behavior on to our web team. I hope there is something we can do about that.

We want every comment we can get.
Sorry Ellen!

could you put the video as single frames here as comments
please ?

Hello Lawrence,

I'm not sure if I can post the video as frames. I bet I can post the raw video as a download somewhere when I get back from Thanksgiving. Would that work?
