Jing-Off Challenge in the Classroom

| | Comments (2)

Earlier this week, Dave McCollom, TechSmith's Education Evangelist, and I were scanning Twitter for feedback about our products. We started noticing several tweets like the one below mentioning #maet and TechSmith.

Turns out that the Master of Arts in Educational Technology (MAET)) students from Michigan State University (my beloved Alma Mater) took part in a Jing-off Challenge! They're studying overseas in Plymouth, England right now.

How did MAET conduct their Jing-off? Well, the students were put into teams and given the challenge of producing 9 screencasts in 10 minutes. With just 20 minutes of planning time, they had to decide on a topic and prep for their screencast. They had 10 minutes to record, produce, and tweet their screencast... here is what they created:

Bindu & Michael - Behind the Mask (Photoshop)

Victoria & Sergio - MAET Tech Challenge

Julie & Sara - Graphic Design Made Easy

Kim & Eric - Google Earth

Lanita & Jen - Online Survey Creators

John & Eric - Sharing is Caring

Linda, Renee and Donna - TI-83 Desktop (no audio, on purpose!)

Bill and Marissa - Quizlet

Leyna & Doug - Edu 2.0

Thanks to Leigh Graves Wolf, the Program Director at MAET, for the creative use of Jing in the classroom! I feel like I'm learning right there along with your students!

Want to hear about other interesting uses of Jing in the classroom? Be sure to check out Dave McCollom's Education Community Blog.

How about challenging your fellow co-workers, students, friends or family to a Jing-Off? You never know what you might learn. Or, maybe you can win bragging rights. :-)

This was a fantastic experience. The user-friendliness of Jing was what made this all possible. TechSmith hit a Home Run with this product!!
