Jing for Mac - Version 1.4 Update
Posted on Tuesday December 18, 2007 by Don Sherry
We fixed a few bugs in this release, and added more key shortcuts when adding text boxes to a capture:
- support text alignment key shortcuts: for left alignment use command { (shift-open bracket), for centered use command | (shift-back slash), and for right alignment use command } (shift-close bracket).
- improved support of proxies when sharing to Flickr
- fixed a bug when capture width is 0
- fixed a bug with locating the sun on a second display
- fixed a bug with the height of some windows
- cleaned up some wording
After releasing this morning, we found a serious bug with re-sharing to Screencast.com, and fixed it in the 1.4.3892 release.
You can download this new version here.

Hi,
I'm using Mac OSX 10.4.
Can you please tell me how to quit.
I hid the sun control and would like to access the setting but I don't know where the app is.
Please help me.

No SSH :(
Is there a way to "lock" Jing?

I used to be able to open the swf file generated by Jing in QuickTime. Now it says "The movie could not be opened. This file is not a movie file."
What am I doing wrong?

@Robert: Hiding the Sun should put a menu on the right side of your menubar with Capture, History, and More. Choose More, and then click the rightmost button.
@Thomas: are you looking for SFTP or FTP over SSH? Jing doesn't support those yet, we're still collecting feedback.
@ks: We have not changed anything with our SWF recording since our first release last June. Web browsers like Safari can play them, so dragging the .swf file into an empty web browser window should allow you to play it.

We can only save the movies in the swf formay in which is say jing in the beginning and you have to play?
Can't we just have the movie saven in some regulat format, not "watermark-type" ads?
I mean, it's a cool program, simple and awesome, I bet it'd be succesfull, why not let it run around free and let users produce captures freely? I'm sure they'll promote the progam anyway.

Same for me Tamara. Installed it and nothing. Not running in the finder, nothing in the doc. No signs of life whatsoever.

I am linking to a video file, saved via FTP, on my website. The player required is Flash 9, which almost everybody will have to go download before they can view my video, since it is so new (which more than likely ain't gonna happen). Is there any way to save video files as a different format so they can be played with more ubiquitous technology? thanks!

I just posted the question about saving jing videos in a different format to ease the viewing by others. Let me be clear, l love jing. But I am looking for an adequate solution for today. I'd go buy Camtasia Studio, but i use a Mac. I understand techsmith is working on a Mac solution, but does anyone have any suggestions of where I can find a screen-capture video software for Mac right now? (Not to ask for someone to mention a competitor of techsmith, but actually since techsmith doesn't have a mac solution out, they wouldn't technically be competitor in this niche...)
