Jing for Mac - Version 1.4 Update
We fixed a few bugs in this release, and added more key shortcuts when adding text boxes to a capture:
- support text alignment key shortcuts: for left alignment use command { (shift-open bracket), for centered use command | (shift-back slash), and for right alignment use command } (shift-close bracket).
- improved support of proxies when sharing to Flickr
- fixed a bug when capture width is 0
- fixed a bug with locating the sun on a second display
- fixed a bug with the height of some windows
- cleaned up some wording
After releasing this morning, we found a serious bug with re-sharing to Screencast.com, and fixed it in the 1.4.3892 release.
You can download this new version here.

Hi,
I'm using Mac OSX 10.4.
Can you please tell me how to quit.
I hid the sun control and would like to access the setting but I don't know where the app is.
Please help me.
Robert
I used to be able to open the swf file generated by Jing in QuickTime. Now it says "The movie could not be opened. This file is not a movie file."
What am I doing wrong?
@Robert: Hiding the Sun should put a menu on the right side of your menubar with Capture, History, and More. Choose More, and then click the rightmost button.
@Thomas: are you looking for SFTP or FTP over SSH? Jing doesn't support those yet, we're still collecting feedback.
@ks: We have not changed anything with our SWF recording since our first release last June. Web browsers like Safari can play them, so dragging the .swf file into an empty web browser window should allow you to play it.
hey,
when are you guys gonna design one for linux users??

hi-- i downloaded an installed the update and 'opened' it and nothing happened! no sun, no menu, no nuthin. when i try to trash the app from the apps folder it says i can't because it is 'open.' but there is no little carrot next to it in my launch bar and no other sign it's running.
urgh. help?
Same for me Tamara. Installed it and nothing. Not running in the finder, nothing in the doc. No signs of life whatsoever.
I also just downloaded the program and now can't use it. Thanks.
Chet
I want to convert the .swf file to a file that can be opened in iMovie. Is that possible? How would i do that?
Hello Zachary,
I'm afraid we haven't had any luck pulling that off. While there are a lot of converters out there, they don't like the non-standard SWF format.
BTW, some reasons we went with SWF are because it works great on the web, high quality, works on Mac and PC and is royalty free.
