Jing for Mac - Version 1.2.4

Posted on Thursday July 19, 2007 by Don Sherry

To update, just download the new version from our main page. To install, either run the script, or quit Jing, and replace your old version with this one. Note that you will not be able to share to Screencast until you update to this version.

In this release, we fixed:

  • Problems when registering with a product called Growl. We don't currently support Growl, but this version avoids a conflict
  • Large videos can now be shared. We had problems with videos over 20 megabytes
  • Deleting items from your History after you have deleted them via Screencast

Thanks for this great piece of software. I love it. Will it stay free? If not, please tell us how much it will cost in the future.

Patrick: we don't know yet. A good explanation of this is now on our FAQ page, under "So, what does it cost?" and "Why not call it beta like everyone else?" FAQ

I used Skitch and it's free. Now I use Jing but video and image sharing is very expensive if you consider that imageshack and youtube are free.

Software is very nice but service is bad.

This is a beautiful app and very easy to use. Makes sharing info easy but also very helpful for showing people how to do things on their PCs remotely. I love it. Thx a lot!

I love this piece of software. It makes my life easier doing screenshots and video guides. Cheers.

I love Jing because it runs on a Mac. I looked everywhere for some kind of susbstitute for Camtasia, even though my Mac runs Windows. There isn't one, nothing even close. The update is great - the software even unmounted itself.

I'd gladly pay for a pro version of Jing without the branding, or better yet, that I could insert my own branding into. I'm also not crazy about Screencast.com, but unlike other services, I am sure you're going to take our feedback, where specific, into account to make it better.

New to Jing and attempting to create a video showing a user how to change her desktop options under View in Finder on a MAC. I get to where I want the menu to open the options palette but it is greyed out.
